A massive pile of garbage builds next to the school area, destroying the learning environment
Bangladesh: A massive pile of garbage builds next to Manchester International School located in Ward No. 1 of City Corporation in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.
The stench is constantly spreading from there. As a result, students, pedestrians, and passengers have to travel by pressing their noses.
Garbage piles up every day. The stench is destroying the learning environment of that school. There are also two educational institutions named Noor Al Madina Madrasa and Mizmiji Pineadi Rekmat Ali High School and several vital installations, including mosques. Everyone has to endure the stench of dirt and travel on that road.
Ward residents said the garbage dump had been here for about a year. Although the ward councilor has been informed about this problem in several times, no action has been taken yet.
Tania, a fourth-grader, said, “We cannot do our class properly because of the smell of dirt. If we want to travel through here, we have to press our nose and mouth. We cannot play on the school’s playground because of the smell of dirt. “
A resident named Gafur said, “Earlier, and the cleaning workers of the city corporation used to take dirt from here. Not anymore.
As a result, the place has become a garbage dump. Day by day, the pile of garbage next to the school is getting bigger. This is putting the environment of our area at risk.”
Iqbal Hossain, the headmaster of Manchester International School, said, “My school has more than two hundred students.
It is impossible to teach the students properly as there is a garbage dump next to the school. Occasionally, City Corporation sweepers sweep the streets and dump the garbage.
Even though we repeatedly complain, they are not listening. I want to make a special request to the people’s representatives to remove the garbage pile as soon as possible. “
Asked about this, Anwar Hossain, Ward Councilor No. 1, said, “My primary responsibility is to keep my ward clean and tidy. The garbage will remove from the side of the school soon.”
