Bangladesh-Nepal to work together on climate change
Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, met with Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bangladesh, and the Ministry of Water Resources, Bangladesh.
In the meeting held in Dhaka, the two countries discussed climate change, regional environmental cooperation, and strengthening bilateral relations.
The discussion was held in the Advisor’s Room at the Secretariat on 7pm.
Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari invited the Environment Advisor to the Sagarmatha Conference in Nepal in May 2025.
World leaders from mountain-rich countries, along with UN and World Bank representatives, will join the global dialogue on climate change and sustainable development.
Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan welcomed the invitation and highlighted the importance of the conference. She informed the Ambassador that she would discuss with her office and take a final decision.
Ambassador Bhandari stressed the need to strengthen Bangladesh-Nepal cooperation on climate and environmental issues and pledged full support for Bangladeshi representatives’ participation.
The meeting also discussed the possibility of a tri-nation environmental meeting with the participation of Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan. By the end of the meeting, both parties pledged to keep collaborating on climate change and environmental protection.
