The Honorable High Court has directed to demolish the illegal brickfields in Bandarban District, Khagrachhari District, and Rangamati Hill District and submit a report to the court within six weeks.

A High Court bench comprising Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Fatema Najeeb passed the order on March 14, 2022. According to the report submitted by the three Deputy commissioners, there are 130 illegal brickfields in the three hill districts.

The state filed a report in the High Court on February 23 in response to a writ petition. According to the Petition, they stopped the operation of 64 illegal brick kiln activities in 20 Upazilas of the three hill districts.

On the same day, the court directed to submit the complete list by March 9. Following this, the state submitted a list of three deputy commissioners to the court.

After the hearing, Manzil Morshed, Senior Advocate, said that the honorable High Court has directed to take legal action against the illegal brickfields within three working days as per sections 14 and 19 of the Bangladesh Brick Control Act.
