14th Bangladesh Bicycle Lane Day 2025 Celebrated with Due Dignity
April 4, 2025, marked the celebration of the 14th Bangladesh Bicycle Lane Day, taking place on the first Friday of the month. Bicycle and environmental enthusiasts in Dhaka gathered at the Central Shaheed Minar at 10 am for a short assembly, followed by a vibrant bicycle rally.
Since 2012, the Bangladesh Bicycle Lane Implementation Council has celebrated the first Friday of April annually to promote eco-friendly bicycles.
This initiative seeks to enhance public health, decrease traffic congestion, protect the environment, and promote the creation of safe bicycle lanes by authorities.
As every year, the Bangladesh Cycle Lane Implementation Council, Dhaka University Cycling Club, Dhanmondi Tourist Cyclist Club, Mirpur Stunt Boys, and Keraniganj Cyclist Society organized the rally and forest cycle rally.
The theme for the 14th Bangladesh Bicycle Lane Day this year was “The Importance of Bicycles for Safe Roads and Environmental Protection.”
Before the cycle rally, Md Aminul Islam Tubbus, President of the Bangladesh Cycle Lane Implementation Council, led a brief event.
Notable attendees included Peerzada Shahidul Harun, former Additional Secretary of Finance; Md Towhidur Rahman, President of the Dhaka University Cycling Club; Mohammad Riaz, President of Mirpur Stunt Boys; Mohammad Ali Rimon, Founder of Savyata Prabhin Sevak Sansthan; Shakil Sen,
Convener of the Festival Committee; and other prominent figures. Members of the said organization, various environmental activists, media workers participated in the said gathering and rally enthusiastically. In addition, one tourist each from the United States, Russia, and China participated in the rally.
During the brief gathering, speakers emphasized the health, educational, economic, and environmental benefits of bicycles and urged the government to create safe cycle lanes on all roads. In addition, they urged the countrymen to develop the habit of using fuel-free two-wheelers instead of polluting motor vehicles.
The cycle rally began and ended at the Central Shaheed Minar, cycling around various roads in Dhaka University.
The whole of Dhaka was completely empty after Eid.

Let’s see Dhaka city, today we are swaying, swaying, oh.. Public brother, there are no bicycle brakes.
“We demand safe roads equipped with bicycle lanes!” The young people participated in the cycle rally with joy and enthusiasm.
