The government is paying particular attention to environmentally friendly and sustainable construction materials. The Housing and Building Research Institute (HBRI), Bangladesh, is working towards this goal.



The company has already included 34 eco-friendly materials. Using these materials in the construction of all buildings must save the environment.

The speakers also said that the Housing and Building Research Institute had prepared guidelines for constructing environmentally friendly and sustainable buildings in the coastal areas. If the building constructs following these guidelines, the building will protect from natural calamities.

The speakers spoke at the Media Awards ceremony held at the Housing and Building Research Institute conference room in Mirpur, Dhaka.

State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed was the chief guest on occasion. Kazim Uddin, Member of Parliament, Bangladesh, and T. Shahid Ullah Khandaker, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Bangladesh, were the special guests. Ashraful Alam, Director-General of the Housing and Building Research Institute was, presided over the occasion.



In his speech as a chief guest, Sharif Ahmed, State Minister for Housing and Public Works, said, “The government is giving particular importance to eco-friendly construction. Various initiatives are underway to make the construction materials environmentally friendly in the future.

Shahid Ullah Khandaker, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works, said, “Brick kiln is very harmful. It burns fertile soil, which is harmful to agricultural land. To reduce this, we need to focus on eco-friendly construction and reduce the use of brick kilns.”

“We are working to increase the allocation for research and recruit manpower so that more research can do from HBRI and work can be increased by increasing the manpower,” Md. Shahid Ullah Khandaker added.

Ashraful Alam, the Director-General of the Housing and Building Research Institute, called upon the government to pay special attention to HBRI, increase the workforce, increase allocation for research and provide pensions to retired employees and officials.
