People will have to pay fines if they blow horns loudly
The Department of Environment (DOE), Bangladesh has launched a public awareness campaign regarding noise pollution. In addition, the Environment Department’s Monitoring and Enforcement Branch fined 12 vehicle drivers of Tk.10,000 for blowing their horns too loudly.
On Tuesday (May 31), the DOE organized a mobile court in Dhaka’s Gulshan-2 area to enhance public awareness about noise pollution control.
Syeda Mashuma Khanam, Director, Natural Resources Management Branch, DOE, confirmed this matter and said,
“Today’s activities by monitoring and encroaching on mobile courts from the Director of Environment and Enforcement. Moreover, 12 drivers were fined Tk.10,000, and 15 were warned.”
On the other hand, under the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Bangladesh, the DOE conducted the campaigns and mobile courts to raise public awareness of noise pollution control under the auspices of the Integrated and Participatory Project on Noise Pollution Control’.
According to the organizers, the campaign’s main objective is to create a social movement by motivating the public to raise public awareness about the various harmful effects of noise pollution on the lives of ordinary people.
