The number of natural disasters due to climate change is increasing day by day: State Minister for Public Works, Bangladesh 

Sharif Ahmed, State Minister for Housing and Public Works Bangladesh, said, “The number and intensity of natural disasters due to climate change are increasing daily.

As a result, many people are becoming homeless every year. Global warming is causing sea level rise and flooding of low-lying coastal areas, which will likely increase further. As a result, many people are likely to become homeless.”

He said this at a seminar at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium, Dhaka.

The state minister said, “The reality of the 21st century, capitalist civilization, and unequal distribution of wealth is constantly increasing inequality in society. In this, hunger, poverty, malnutrition, and housing crisis in third-world countries are getting worse and worse.

Recent incidents like the Ukraine-Russia war and the Myanmar army’s massacre in the Rakhine state have created a new refugee problem. War disrupted production and supply channels, commodity prices rose, and living costs increased.

Since 2020, a large number of people around the world have become unemployed due to the corona pandemic. As a result, new challenges have emerged in the housing system. No one can tackle this challenge alone. For this, we want national and international cooperation.”

Referring to various government initiatives, he said the Ministry of Housing and Public Works had implemented many plots development and flat construction projects for low, medium, and low-income people.

Five hundred thirty-three rental flats have been constructed for the slum dwellers in the capital Dhaka.
