The global temperature will exceed the maximum limit in a few years.
Scientists fear that our overheated world may exceed a threshold for temperature increase for the first time in years. There is a 66 percent chance that global temperatures will exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius between now and 2027.
According to the researchers, this possibility is increasing due to the emission of greenhouse gases in the daily activities of people and the expected El Nino in summer.
If the global temperature rise above this threshold is of concern, it will likely be temporary. A global temperature peak means the world will be 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than in the second half of the 19th century (before industrialization began to emit fossil fuels).
In the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement, countries agreed to continue efforts to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius by this century.
If the global temperature rises above 1.5 degrees Celsius every year for a decade or two, the effects of that warming will be severe. For example, heat waves will be longer, and storms and wildfires will be more intense.
But scientists say there is still time to limit global warming by sharply reducing greenhouse gas emissions. For this, countries need a concerted effort.
