Amid rising temperatures around the world and getting ready for the climate conference (COP31), the fourth edition of UN Climate Week—“UN Climate Week 4”—has started in Baku, Azerbaijan.
During this large global event, which lasts until September 11, government representatives, environmental scientists, local groups, and industry leaders from different countries have met to discuss how to make past pledges real and effective.
Key Agenda and Global Strategy: Building on the success of the previous Climate Week held in Yeosu, South Korea, the Baku conference prioritizes solutions rooted in the real economy:
Utilization of Renewable Energy and Artificial Intelligence: Special emphasis was placed on moving beyond conventional technologies to combat climate change; instead, the focus was on leveraging modern Artificial Intelligence (AI), advanced data systems, and digital platforms to monitor and reduce carbon emissions in real time.
Global Funding in the Era of Implementation: A central topic of discussion was the disbursement of funds pledged by industrialized nations to developing countries for climate adaptation and the transition to green energy. There were clear demands for more openness and faster use of global money to prevent disasters caused by climate change, especially in the Himalayas and other at-risk areas.
