Bangladesh National parks to be closed for another three months to return to nature

The decision took to stop the influx of tourists and give them a chance to return to nature.
The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of Bangladesh has decided to close national parks across the country for another three months to return its natural shape.
The committee has recommended the formulation of policy. Besides, it has suggested preparing an analysis report on the profit and loss of the tourism sector regarding national parks within three months.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the MoEFCC, confirmed the information to the Dhaka Tribune.
“We are trying to bring biodiversity back to normal by stopping travel to these forests,” he said. We want to give nature a long break from tourist travel. So, that nature can return to its form.”
“The government is going to make a policy in this regard. According to the policy, tourists will be able to visit the country’s forests and national parks at a certain time of the year,” he added.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury further said, “Every year revenue of Tk.10 crore (10 million) comes from the national parks. We already know the economic benefits of tourism in these parks. But we also have to think about the consequences. “
“We are working on this profit-loss analysis. Once this is done, we will be able to show what kind of damage forests and biodiversity are facing due to tourism,” also added.
He informs the media that this decision took in the presence of Mr Shahab Uddin, Minister, MoEFCC of Bangladesh at the meeting.
It may mention that there are 16 national parks in the country. Of these, Lauyachhara National Park is the most popular.
