Bangladesh National Zoo: New Member in Impala’s Family

The National Zoo is one of the capital’s entertainment hubs. A new guest has arrived at the Impala family there. In the morning, Impala, a rare African animal, gave birth to a baby boy on September 10, 2020. With this, the number of impalas in the zoo stood at eight.

These animals do not usually give birth in captivity. This is the third time in the history of childbirth at this zoo in such a closed condition. As a result, there is a lot of joy among the officials and employees of the zoo.

Dr. Nurul Islam, the zoo’s curator, said to Bangladesh Pratidin that the new guest was not named. Due to the global pandemic coronavirus, the zoo has been closed to the public since March 17.

That’s why there is a quiet silence inside the zoo. In such a sweet environment of nature, the reproduction of animals is increasing day by day. As a result, baby animals are being born one after another. Last day, it was seen that the newborn baby was walking behind the mother inside the cell.
Now he is being given liquid milk as well as mother’s milk. He is staying close to to the mother all day and occasionally running. When it is a little hidden, mother Impala starts looking for the baby.

Waliur Rahman, a zoo official, said, “The child would be allowed to eat young grass after 21 days. Impala is faster wild animals than deer. This animal lives in the forests and jungles of Africa.”

This animal has a shy nature. They live in groups. One to two babies are born eight months after conception.
