The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Bangladesh, arranged the event to mark the 50th anniversary of the Cyclone Preparedness Program (CPP) established by the father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and International Disaster Mitigation Day.
The PM inaugurated four units of the CPP by virtually connecting from her official residence Ganobhaban.
“Our geographical location is such that we have to deal with natural disasters frequently; therefore, besides the various organizations of the government, the general public should also be aware to avoid the risk of disaster,” Sheikh Hasina continued.
“Rules and laws of the respective unit should be abiding by every team member. But in case of emergencies like fighting against the fire or earthquake or rescue works, all other units should assist the respective unit, “she rolled.
“Our government has taken all measures to deal with the disaster, and no other government has paid attention to them. As far as the initiatives we have taken, the father of the nation has taught these,” she remembered.
