Dredgers Seized in the Turag River at Savar, Bangladesh
Ashulia Naval Police have seized three dredgers in Savar for allegedly filling sand by destroying the beauty of the Turag River in Savar. The dredgers were seized in a raid on the Turag river in Kaundia of Savar and Moragang area of Ashulia on Thursday morning.
Sharif Uddin Neyaji, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Naval Police Outpost, said that for a long time now, some people have been illegally filling the Turag River in Savar’s Kaundia and Ashulia’s Moragang areas with sand from one bulge to another.
The operation was conducted based on secret information. During this time three dredgers were seized.
Later, two separate cases were filed against Rubel, Jubayer Razzak and Rafiqul Islam in Ashulia and Savar Model Police Stations ¬¬¬Case No. of Ashulia Police Station is 6 and Case No. of Savar Model Police Station is 7. The owners of three dredgers have been on the run since the incident.
The naval police official also said that strict action would be taken against anyone who illegally occupied the river and traded in sand.
Savar Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) AFM Sayed said the process of arresting the accused in the case was underway.
