May 7, 2025, is the Natural Oxygen Conservation Day.

Today, the environmental organization Green Voice held a student rally in front of the Raju Sculpture at Dhaka University.

Green Voice co-coordinator Arifur Rahman moderated the rally and the organization’s chief coordinator Md. Alamgir Kabir presided over it.

The rally featured special speakers including Ruhin Hossain Prince from the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Javed Jahan from BAP, Khan Asaduzzaman Masum, president of Jubo Union, and journalist Anis Raihan.

Ruhin Hossain Prince said that trees are being cut down everywhere in the name of development. Cutting down trees has become a state policy.

All political parties and individuals should come together for an eco-friendly movement focused on environmental protection.

Alamgir Kabir, coordinator of Green Voice, said, “Life is impossible without oxygen. And trees are keeping us alive by providing oxygen. And these oxygen-providing trees are being cut down in the name of development.

The government should take legal action against anyone harming the environment for personal gain, religious reasons, or misunderstandings.

Around 300 students from at least 20 educational institutions in Dhaka city participated in the rally. An awareness rally was held after the rally.
