Planned plantation to save future generations: Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation
Atiqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), said, “The way buildings are constructed by destroying trees if we do not plan to plant trees now, it will pose a serious threat to the environment. Future generations will also blame us for this.
He said this at the signing ceremony of an agreement on tree plantation at DNCC head office on Saturday.
The City Corporation signed an agreement with three organizations to plant trees in a planned manner in the DNCC area. Lankabangla, Green Savers, and Community Town Federation are the three organizations. The plantation project will be implemented with funding from Chevron Bangladesh.
The DNCC Mayor has requested the preservation of existing trees while also proposing a plan to identify new areas for tree planting. At this time, he assured the organizations to continue the overall cooperation.
The mayor, Atiq, rightly criticized the wanton destruction of our precious forests solely for the sake of profit. “In the past, we have only destroyed the forests for our own needs.
Mentioning the present trend of most humans, the Mayor said, “I only thought about my profit. But never thought about what the future generation would grow into. Today is the time to think again.”
