To protect the environment, we have to protect our forest
Md. Shahab Uddin, Minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), said, “Bangladesh will be successful in forest conservation and development of people from all walks of life work together to ensure a sustainable living environment.
To this end, the co-operation of the people’s representatives, forest-dependent people, and small ethnic groups living in the forest, media personnel, and all concerned is necessary.”
“The amount of tree cover in Bangladesh is constantly increasing due to various effective initiatives of the Forest Department, Bangladesh, under the effective direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to the forest survey for 2015-2019, the amount of tree cover in the country was 22.36 percent of the country’s total area, which has already increased significantly,” the environment ministry continued.
“We have to plant more trees to meet the basic needs of the fauna. In addition to ensuring the conservation of all our forests, we need to plant trees in vacant and fallow lands.
The fallow and marginalized government and privately owned lands have come under afforestation through social afforestation activities implemented by the forest department.
The Minister also directed the forest Bangladesh department employees to work with patriotism and dedication in forest protection.
Necessary steps will adopt to fill the vacancies and other necessary measures to increase the capacity of the forest department,” the environment ministry further added.
