The earth temperature is rising gradually
In the next 15 years, the earth’s temperature will rise by about 1.5 degrees Celsius. Nevertheless, it was supposed to happen at the end of this century. The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released a research report with such alarming messages.
On August 9, 2021, the IPCC released its Sixth Assessment Report, which emphasized the dangers of climate change, and that many of the risks associated with climate change is now unavoidable.
Their research shows that the threat of increasing global temperature around 1.5 degrees Celsius will become a reality by the end of this century within the next 15 years.
The coincidence is, the IPCC released these reports at such a time where already many countries around the world are experiencing record temperatures and repeated bushfires in the forests. Moreover, heavy rains and floods are frequently occurring in all parts of the globe.
Irresponsible human activities, mainly burning fossil fuels and emissions of various Greenhouse gases, already raised the global temperature by 1 degree Celsius from the pre-industrial period, i.e., before 1750. This means that the average global temperature rises by 0.1 degrees Celsius every decade due to Anthropozoic activities.
“The results of the report confirm that we are already in the grip of an extreme climate crisis,” said Seneviratne, Sonia I, a Zurich-based scientist.
One-degree increase in temperature accelerates the chances of heavy rains up to 7%, as well as the frequencies of super cyclones. The report is claiming that if, in any case, the temperature is raised to 3 degrees Celsius, and the world will face heavy rain two to three times every decade.
Once in every decade, a severe drought will dry up most of the land and cause it to lose its fertility. The incidence of heat waves has already increased by 2.8 times.
However, if the temperature further rises by 1 degree Celsius, it will increase the frequency of heatwaves 9.4 times, and the temperature will increase to five degrees Celsius.
The UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) , will hold in Glasgow, Scotland, following November 2021. Before that conference, IPCC will publish five such assessments.
