Human unity in protecting the environment can save the world: Information Minister (Bangladesh)
Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Minister of Information and Broadcasting (Bangladesh), said that unity in environmental protection would help extend our earth’s living hours.
He said this as the chief guest at the Friends of Earth and Miss Earth Bangladesh awards ceremony jointly organized by Rotary International and Triple Nine Global at the Radisson Blu Water Garden in the capital Dhaka on October 9, 2021.
Meanwhile, the Information Minister thanked the organizers and congratulated the awardees.
Hassan Mahmud said that the only planet in the universe to live of the human community, the earth, has no alternative to protect its nature and environment to keep the earth alive. This work requires the joint efforts of all.
He further added that in the developing world, women are directly involved with nature and the environment. They are directly affected by the damage to the environment. So, in this case, women have no choice but to come forward consciously.
Motasim Billah Farooqi, Rotary District Governor, presided over the function where Nayla Bari, the National Director and Noman Robin, Chief Adviseof Miss Earth Bangladesh, hosted the program. Dr. A. Atiq Rahman, an environmental researcher, spoke as a special guest.
During the program, Dr. Mubarak Ahmed Khan, the inventor of polythene alternative from jute fibre, Abdul Mukit Majumder Babu, Chairman, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation, Abdullah Abu Sayeed, founder and chairman of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, Motasim Billah Farooqi, Nayla Bari and Dr. S I Khan awarded of “Friends of Nature”, and Umme Jamila Khatun awarded as “Miss Earth Bangladesh” by the vote of guests and organizer.
