The color of the ocean has changed in the last 20 years
The entire world is under adverse conditions due to climate change. Most countries face natural disasters like warming, extreme rains or droughts, and untimely floods.
Most of Europe’s canals and heartlands are drying up, and glaciers are melting. Now the researchers said that the color of the ocean has also changed in the last 20 years. Such information has emerged in a study led by scientists from the United Kingdom’s National Oceanography Center and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States.
More than 56% of the world’s oceans in the tropics are starting to turn a light green color, researchers said. The research report was published in the journal Nature recently. CNN reported this information in a statement.
According to the research report, experts have observed this trend of color change in more than half of the combined volume of the world’s oceans. According to them, its total volume is greater than the combined land area of the Earth.
Experts say that the trend of changing the color of the ocean is a threat to the ecosystem. It can change ecosystem processes. This can be especially damaging to the small plants that naturally form the center of seafood production.
In this regard, BB Kael, the principal author of the research report and a researcher at the National Oceanography Center of the United Kingdom, said, ‘The color of the ocean from space gives an idea about the state of biodiversity there. So, the color change means the ocean’s biodiversity is changing. For this reason, the matter is being looked at seriously.
Experts believe that more research is needed to discover the real reason behind the blue ocean turning light green and its possible consequences.
Stephanie Datkiewicz, a researcher in MIT’s Department of Earth, Atmosphere and Planetary Sciences, said, “The fact that the oceans are changing color is not surprising but frightening. This is consistent with human-caused causes of global climate change.”
Due to climate change, not only nature changes but also the human brain has started to shrink in size. This information emerged recently in a study conducted by neuroscientist Jeff Morgan Stiebel of the Natural History Museum of California.
He showed in the research the experiment was done to understand the changes in 298 samples of the Homo genus during the last 50 thousand years due to changes in global temperature, humidity, and rainfall. The average human brain size is significantly smaller during warmer climates than during cooler climates.
