A Factory fined for polluting environment, Gazipur, Bangladesh
A washing factory got charged for polluting the environment by the mobile court in Gazipur, Bangladesh. Thandar Kamruzzaman, an administration executive magistrate of the Gazipur district, was in charge of this mobile court operation.
According to executive magistrate Thandar Kamruzzaman, the Nur Washing Plant factory located in the Shah Alam Bari area at Gazipur City Corporation is continuously hampering the environment. It is surrounding by releasing washing wastewater without treating it with the effluent treatment plant (ETP). They kept the ETP closed.
The campaign against environmental pollution took place on August 15, 2021, under Gazipur Executive Magistrate Thandar Kamruzzaman, collaborating with the Gazipur District Administration and the Department of Environment. During the campaign, the washing factory fined BD Tk.50,000 by the mobile court.
Besides the fine, they order the factory to stop all its washing activities until it got occupied with a well-equipped ETP. Md. Ashraf Uddin, Research officer at Gazipur District Environment Department, and law and enforcement members were also present during the campaign.
