Bangladesh Environment Ministry’s 100-day action plan has been implemented 78 percent: Environment Minister, BD

Saber Hossain Chowdhury, Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEFCC) stated that 78% of his ministry’s 100-day priority action plan has been completed.

He shared this information during a press briefing about the implementation of the ministry’s 100 working day priority action plan. The briefing took place in the ministry’s meeting room on Sunday.

The environment minister said that 22 out of 28 goals for improving institutional capacity, pollution control, waste management, environment, forest, and biodiversity conservation, as well as fighting climate change, have been fully achieved, and 4 have been partially achieved.

If partial implementation is taken into account, the implementation rate will be 85 percent. Despite the initiatives taken, the implementation of the 2 priorities has not been possible, the implementation work is ongoing.

Efforts have been made to update the organizational structure of the ministries and departments/organizations under its supervision in order to enhance institutional capacity. Initiatives have been taken for effective monitoring through artificial intelligence and smart technology.



Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that approval is under process for some procedural issues. At least one action has been taken to combat pollution from each source of air pollution.

At least 581 brick kilns have been raided across the country to prevent air pollution. Initiatives have been taken to update the Noise Pollution (Control) Rules, 2006.

The environment minister said that initiatives have been taken to formulate the ‘National Solid Waste Management Framework’. In order to protect the environment, environment, and biodiversity from plastic pollution, a list of ‘single use plastics’ and primary data collection activities have been started.

A plan called ‘Extended Producer Responsibility’ has been completed. It is meant to help manage the waste from products made by manufacturers and importers. Initiatives have been taken to introduce online monitoring through smart technology to keep the ETP of industrial plants running effectively.

An initiative has been taken to declares use plastic’ free in the secretariat. Instructions have been issued to all ministries from the Cabinet. Two school campuses have successfully eliminated single-use plastic in each department to prevent environmental pollution.
