Noise pollution in Dhaka city is having a terrible impact on people’s hearing and mental health.
To solve this problem, the new government of Bangladesh has made Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and the area around it, which is three kilometers, a total ‘Horn-free Zone’ and has begun strict enforcement.
Implementation and Citizen Awareness:
Fines and Awareness: Traffic police are imposing heavy fines immediately for honking in this area. An awareness campaign is being run among bus and truck drivers on the harmful effects of noise pollution.
Expansion plan: Work has started to gradually bring all hospitals, educational institutions and residential areas of Dhaka under this silent zone.
The government’s strict policy against honking is helping create a better traffic culture among people. This is very important for a modern and nice city to live in.
