Technology Trends give us ideas about the future and change

Technology Trends give us ideas about the future and change; it also helps us prepare for future opportunities, possibilities, and challenges

Telenor and Grameenphone have been talking about trends like online security, fake news, or deep fake for quite some time. It is good to see that a lot of work is happening on climate change at the public-private level on our predictions, people’s awareness is increasing, and practical steps are adopting in this regard.

Following the footsteps of previous years, with the help of Telenor, this year published these forecasts from Grameenphone for the 2022 ‘Tech Trends’ or technology. This year, Tech Trends focuses on climate change and future leadership.

This year’s Tech Trends report highlights how technology and digitalization can play a role in green transformation, making us genuinely optimistic about how technology can help to tackle climate change in the days ahead and make our lives safer.

The new age of improved connectivity, climate-friendly modern hardware, “Edge Cloud,” and “Five-G” technology will be more environmentally friendly. It will prioritize the demand for Green Job Skills of organizations and Climate Micro Degrees of Digital Learning Platforms.

At the same time, there will be an increase in healthy competition and trends in creating energy-efficient and environmentally friendly devices among the organizations. The number and popularity of climate-conscious influencers among the youth will increase. These predictions arise based on the ongoing global epidemic and its aftermath.

Among the forecasts, the first is the possibility of a green cloud. Due to the proliferation of data or data usage, we now see that data storage is becoming a significant problem worldwide. One piece of information is enough to get an idea about this: at least 1 percent of the electricity used in the world is used only for data storage.

Now we see the use of the cloud in small devices, such as mobile phones. Amazon is at the forefront of cloud services. So let’s make it clear with an example from Amazon. Revenue from Amazon Web Services was 1 billion in 2014, rising to more than 1.6 billion in 2021.

It is easy to see how much the use of the cloud has increased. With this information, it is possible to estimate the extent to which data usage has increased. Mobile devices use almost half of the world’s web traffic. In 2017, the web traffic per month was 11 exabytes (one billion gigabytes), which in 2021 came to 60 exabytes per month.

It expects to reach 80 exabytes by the end of 2022. The hope is that fuel in the cloud will help reduce the rapid data transfer of Edge Computing, Edge Cloud, and Five-G technology together.

Everything in the world is getting smaller now; there is the issue of optimization of everything as the third prediction.

There are four times as many electric devices as there are people in the world today, which will increase further. We’ve already heard about the possibility of using energy-efficient and environmentally friendly hardware or chipsets instead of hardware that uses a lot of fuel.

Apple has recently introduced the M1 chip in the market. This chipped device uses less power than before but is not lagging in performance. The technological advancement of this M1 chip has created healthy competition among chipset makers.

Now everyone has focused on creating fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly chipsets. In the future, artificial intelligence in devices will increase, which will use a lot more power. If we can not utilize affordable chipsets, it will cause more damage to the environment.

Bangladesh is facing various problems due to climate change. According to the Environmental Justice Foundation report, one in seven people (18 million in total) in Bangladesh will displace by climate change by 2050 due to rising sea levels alone.

We can use technology as a tool to overcome future climate change crises. The technological revolution will make a sustainable future possible, but it also requires the combined efforts of government, regulators, development partners, and the private sector.

Tech Trends highlights making technology and digital transformation effective and environmentally friendly this year. We can ensure efficient and timely leadership practice in the organization. Grameenphone aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030.

“That may not be possible overnight. The journey will be long and complicated, but together we can bring about change, move forward towards a green future, and leave a sustainable, eco-friendly world for future generations.”
