Bangladesh will receive appropriate aid from the EU in dealing with climate change
The European Union (EU) will support Bangladesh in addressing climate change, according to Frans Timmermans, executive vice president of the European Commission’s European Green Deal.
He praised Bangladesh’s efforts in combating climate change under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s strong leadership and stated that the EU would continue to strengthen collaboration with Bangladesh in the future.
In a bilateral meeting between a Bangladesh team led by Shahab Uddin, the Minister for Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (Bangladesh, and the European Union in Milan, Italy on Friday (October 1st), Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, made the remarks.
Shahab Uddin stated that Bangladesh is a significant player in the world arena when combating climate change.
The Minister requested EU assistance in climate change mitigation, including technology transfer, capacity building, renewable energy implementation, and adaption initiatives.
Ahmed Shamim Al Razi, Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (Bangladesh) and Md. Ziaul Haque, Director of the Department of Environment (Bangladesh), was present at the meeting as a member of the Bangladesh delegation.
