Dhaka International Environment Conference Has Been Postponed Due to Coronavirus
The four-day International Environment Conference at Dhaka University has been called off due to Coronavirus (COVID-19). This has been taking place in Bangladesh every 10 years since 1987.
This international conference has been organized jointly by Dhaka University of Bangladesh and National Center for Scientific Research of France. Almost 200 environmental specialists from 34 different countries of the world usually attend the international conference.
The chief coordinator of the organizer committee, A.H.M. Mustafizur Rahman, Professor of Soil, Water and Environment Department of DU (Dhaka University) has informed that the Conference has been suspended due to unavoidable circumstances. He said that every Ten years the environmental scientists around the world arrive in Bangladesh to be a part of this conference. But this time it has been suspended due to Coronavirus. Because at this moment the State has put a ban on meetings. He also informed that this International Conference will be arranged on a later date.
On the occasion of the 100th Birth Anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, this conference was supposed to held from 18th to 21st March 2020. This year the title of the event was ‘Climate Change and Food Security in South Asia’.
