A heat wave across Europe
Eighty-four people died in a severe heat wave in Spain. The Carlos III Health Institute reported this information to the Spanish Ministry of Health.
These deaths occurred on July 10, 11, and 12 instant. At that time, the temperature was 40 degrees Celsius across most of the countries in southern Europe. Moreover, in the south and south-west of the country, the temperature rose to 45 degrees Celsius.
China’s state news agency Xinhua informed, “The fires will continue into next week, and the death toll will rise.”
According to the Ministry of Health, this is the second fire in Spain this year. For the first time, 829 people died nationwide in a heatwave from June 11 to 20 instant, when the temperature was 44.5 degrees Celsius.
The country’s authorities have advised people to drink more water, avoid excessive exercise and stay indoors as much as possible.
