Bangladesh is well on track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, 75th UNGA session
Yesterday, on September 26 at 8.00 pm, Sheik Hasina was delivered her address on the virtual session of the UN 75th General Assembly. Among other issues, she also highlighted the Climate change issue and SDG.
Sheikh Hasina said, “The second voluntary national review (VNR) of Bangladesh, shows the country is well on the track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.”
She also said, “We’re working hard to transform Bangladesh into a middle-income country by 2021, attain the SDGs by 2030, a developed country status by 2041, and a prosperous Delta by 2100.”
She said besides COVID 19, Bangladesh has experienced a long time successive flood, and one-third of my country drowned underwater.
The existing problems of countries at risk of climate change are continually manifesting. Even in this crisis, we have to deal with the adverse effects of floods and cyclones. As President of the CVF and V-20 Group of Ministers of Finance, Bangladesh will formulate a sustainable plan to overcome climate change.
Besides, Bangladesh will always strive to ensure constructive and effective results in the Conference of Parties (COP).
