At last, a project Cost of US$2.6 billion is allocated for the conservation of Wular Lake in Kashmir, India

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has allocated US$2.6 billion for the conservation and management of Wular Lake. To restore the ancient glory of the lake on a large scale this project is undertaken.

Dr. Waise Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Bandipore, Kashmir, recently called a meeting with the authorizes engaged in the development of the Wular, to discuss the development situation and activities. This was known from that meeting.

The meeting discussed the report adopted on the directives issued by the Chief Secretary regarding the development of the tourism sector in the district.

Weiss said, “If the potential of tourism is fully utilized, it will completely change the socio-economic condition of the local people of the district. The lake has huge fish stocks as well as a huge potential for water sports.”

On the occasion, the officials informed to the Deputy Commissioner about the measures have taken by them to complete the work.
