BD Clean (NG0) displayed discarded cigarette filters and plastic bottles in an innovative way
BD Clean organized an innovative public awareness exhibition regarding the side effects of discarded cigarette filters at T&T school grounds in the Banani area of the capital Dhaka.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the glorious victory of Bangladesh, BD Clean members organized the exhibition with 50 million cigarette filters and 3 million discarded plastic bottles collected from the roads across the country.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam was the chief guest at the exhibition’s inauguration ceremony.
The mayor said, “Such efforts from BD Clean members on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the glorious victory of Bangladesh, to create public awareness against environmental pollution are praiseworthy.”
The exhibition, ‘ Save Earth; Save Bangladesh Season 2’, set their slogan as ‘We need to be aware of the pollution of plastic materials and post-smoking filters. Let us build a livable Bangladesh by taking great care.
“This event is timely and very significant. Disposal of plastic products for various purposes can lead to environmental pollution as well as waterlogging, so recycling of plastic products is the demand of the time,” the DNCC mayor continued.
Mayor Atiqul Islam also demanded an increase in VAT on tobacco products to discourage smoking. The mayor awarded Tk.1 million to BD Clean to create a healthy environment through cleanliness.
